Miami and Illinois stick out for Drummond

Craig Drummond (6-5 255) attends Morgan Park High School in Chicago, Illinois and finished last season with 18 sacks. His performance last year was good enough to earn All-State and All-City honors and his team finished with a record of 12-3 after losing in the state title game. He has received numerous offers but two schools stick out the most.
“I’ve received offers from a lot of schools; I can’t name all of them,” Drummond said. “I don’t have a top 5 but I like Illinois, Miami, and there are some other schools. Miami and Illinois have both offered me. Miami is a good school with a good football team and Illinois has a good football team, a good program, and they are a good school.”
Drummond grew up watching the Miami Hurricanes and is a big fan of the former Hurricane linebacker Ray Lewis. On the field, he used is 4.5 forty speed and his 295 bench press to excel on the field. Before he gets to college, he wants to get a little bit faster and stronger. While he is one of the top defensive linemen in the country, his dad should get some of the credit.
“My father played defensive tackle and defensive end for Missouri,” he said.
The latest craze in recruiting seems to be committing early. A number of the top 2009 players are starting to commit early, but Drummond is in no hurry. He is looking for two things in each program and has no immediate plans to visit any campuses.
“I’m looking for a good program that has good coaches, and that’s it,” he said. “I’m not going to decide soon and I haven’t taken any visits and I don’t have any coming up.”
